Get a handover list before work starts
Ask for a written list tied to your selected service. Separate documents issued by a state or federal agency from documents prepared by your provider and from access to third-party accounts.
State formation records
LLC formation paperwork is often called Articles of Organization, but names vary by state. Ask for the state-accepted formation document and filing reference. A “Certificate of Incorporation” is not a universal additional document for every LLC. Match what you receive to your state’s process.
Registered agent confirmation
Keep the agent’s name, address, service start date, included period, renewal arrangements, and contact route. Ask how official mail reaches you and what happens when the first year ends.
EIN records, if included
Ask for the IRS-issued confirmation when the EIN has been assigned. Check the legal business name and retain the original communication securely. A provider-created document is not the same as an IRS-issued record.
Business setup and access
If phone, email, address, banking assistance, or Amazon support is included, request the agreed deliverable and account ownership details for each item. Do not count an application submission as an approved account.
Store your own copies
Keep a protected copy of documents and a separate list of renewal dates. Avoid sending complete tax identifiers, passports, or bank details in public posts when asking others to review your paperwork.
Official sources
Check the issuing authority for current requirements before you act.
